Why do dogs sometimes not like to walk on hardwood floors?

The dogs don't have as much friction under their legs so that if they start running they could fall, also the floor is slippery, and their legs sometimes fall right out from underneath them so if that happened once then they might be more cautious when walking on hard wood floors.
