Do you think private land owners do enough to protect the environment in their own backyard?

I was marking some invasive hardwoods for extraction on Zachary’s Ridge (zacharysridge.com) the other day and my friend and I had a discussion about how I was managing the property from an environmental stand point. There are many issues when it comes to the topic of Land Management. It could be erosion control. It could be about sediment entering streams and creeks. It could be about the use of pesticides. While this topic is broad, try to limit the discussion to how diligent you believe the private land owners are about protecting the environment.
