Stone axe plans. Sims castaway?

I know this has been asked before but I can't find a solid answer. I have the plans for the stone chisel and hammer but no axe? I am on the 2nd island and have done all goals except hunt boar. This is the 3rd time I have started a new game and still no stone axe plans. Is there something I should be doing in order to get the stone axe plans? I need it to harvest hardwood. Shouldn't the stone axe plans come when the stone hammer plans do?
